1. Who we are

ExplorersMap ("we", "us", "our") is a travel tracking platform at explorersmap.net. Contact: [email protected]

2. What we collect

  • Account data: your name, email address, and profile photo provided via Google or Apple sign-in.
  • Travel data: countries, regions, and places you mark as visited.
  • Usage data: game scores, XP, achievements, and leaderboard entries.
  • Technical data: browser type and general location (country-level) for analytics.

3. How we use your data

  • To provide the core service: saving and displaying your travel map.
  • To generate your public profile (if you share it).
  • To compute leaderboards and achievements.
  • We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising.

4. Data storage

Your travel data, profile and photos are stored on our own server, hosted by Contabo in France (EU). Sign-in is handled by Google Firebase Authentication: firebase.google.com/support/privacy. The site is delivered through Cloudflare, and payments, if you choose to support us, are processed by Stripe; we never see your card details.

5. TikTok

ExplorersMap can connect to a TikTok account to publish videos to it, using TikTok's official Login Kit and Content Posting API. This is only used by the account owner who connects it; visitors to ExplorersMap are never asked to connect TikTok.

  • What we access: your TikTok display name, username and profile picture (user.info.basic), and permission to upload and publish videos you choose (video.upload, video.publish). We cannot read your messages, followers or other videos.
  • How it is used: to show which account a video will be posted to, and to publish the video, caption and settings you pick on the posting page, either straight away or at the time you schedule. Nothing is posted without you pressing Post or Schedule.
  • What we store: the access and refresh tokens TikTok issues, kept on our server and never shared, plus a record of the posts you schedule. We do not store your TikTok profile data.
  • Disconnecting and deletion: press Disconnect on the posting page, which revokes the connection and deletes the stored tokens, or remove ExplorersMap under Security and permissions in the TikTok app. To have any remaining record deleted, email [email protected].

6. Public profiles

If you set a username, your profile page (explorersmap.net/u/username) is publicly accessible and shows your travel stats and visited places. You can make your profile private by not setting a username, or by contacting us to delete your account.

7. Your rights (GDPR)

If you are in the EU, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your data. Email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days.

8. Cookies

We use Firebase Auth session cookies for authentication only. No third-party advertising cookies are used.

9. Children

ExplorersMap is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
